All procedures necessary for day-to-day operation, including fully automatic calibration adjustment, are controlled through a single button, and  the PhD Lite's large, easy-to-read graphics display and navigation keys mean the PhD Lite is even easier to use. It's design allows  for the addition of a slip-on motorized sample-draw pump, adding only 2" to the total length.

The meter can also be set up  to display the readings in a language selected by the user from a preprogrammed list of 11 languages. Each set of three disposable AA batteries provides up to 12 hours of continuous operation.

Easy to use: Smaller, smarter, less expensive, and even easier to use! The PhD Lite is housed in a rugged, compact, metal plated case designed to stand up to the most demanding environments. All procedures necessary for day?to?day operation, including fully automatic calibration adjustment, are still controlled through a single button. The PhD Lite's large, easy-to-read graphics display and navigation keys make the PhD Lite even easier to use than earlier versions.

Small package; rugged design: The PhD Lite is completely sealed against the elements. The rugged metal-plated case is designed to minimize RFI.

Smart sensors: Biosystems' "Smart Sensors" are individually equipped with their own EPROM memory chip which automatically stores sensor type, serial number, alarm settings, calibration adjustments, and other important information. Each time a span calibration is performed, the maximum possible adjustment for the sensor is displayed, to provide the user an idea of how much sensor life remains.

Battery Styles: The PhD Lite may be configured for use with disposable alkaline batteries, or an internally housed rechargeable nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery pack. Either battery option provides up to 12 hours of continuous operation. PhD Lite detectors equipped with rechargeable batteries are shipped complete with a slip?in charger. 

Automatic calibration adjustment: "One Button Auto Calibration" is available any time while the PhD Lite is in normal operation. All you have to do is press the "Mode" button, attach the adapter, and flow gas to the sensors. All the adjustments are made automatically. Each time the unit is turned on, a countdown in days tells you when the next calibration is due. User programmable from 1-30 days.

Datalogging & Touch ID^™: PhD Lite detectors may be optionally equipped with a datalogging board, which allows the instrument to automatically retain readings and other monitoring information. Datalogging PhD Lite detectors may also be equipped with Biosystems' unique "Touch ID" automatic memory download system. The system uses small, nearly indestructible memory buttons to store user ID and location information for the environment being monitored. It even stores the language preferences of the instrument user. The inexpensive buttons can be attached to user ID badges, key rings, or permanently mounted to the external structures of frequently entered confined spaces. All you need to do is touch the built-in reader to the button to automatically download the stored information. Optional accessories for use with the PhD Lite also include a slip-on motorized sample pump, which is powered, and electronically monitored, by the instrument.

Standard Accessories: Each PhD Lite detector is shipped complete with hand aspirated sample draw kit with 10 feet of tubing, operator's guide, quick reference card, and belt clip. The sample draw kit includes sample draw / calibration adapter, squeeze bulb, tubing, and sample probe assembly. "Alkaline" PhD Lite detectors include a set of three AA disposable batteries. "NiMH Rechargeable" PhD Lite detectors include a slip-in PhD Lite charger.

Black Box Data Recorder: If there is ever a question about whether or not a worker has been exposed to potentially harmful atmospheric conditions, simply send the unit back to Biosystems to have the data extracted from the “Black Box” Once the data has been retrieved, an incident report will be compiled and returned to the user at no charge. User only pays for shipping charges on the instrument. It is flexible enough so that it can be upgraded to a fully functional datalogging instrument.

Multiple languages: The PhD Lite can be set to display messages and readings in a variety of languages. The languages currently available are Portuguese, French, Spanish, Danish, Italian, English, Polish, Norwegian, German, Lithuanian and Catalan.

Complete PhD Lite Instrument Kits: PhD Lite detectors are also available in the form of complete kits, which include calibration materials and carrying case as well as the PhD Lite detector. Two versions of PhD Lite instrument kits are available. PhD Lite "Value Packs" provide state-of-the-art PhD Lite performance at a bargain price. The Value Pack includes an "Alkaline" PhD Lite detector, all standard accessories, compact (34 liter) sized cylinder of all-in-calibration gas, fixed flow rate regulator, and compact foam-lined ABS carrying case. Confined Space Kits include all standard accessories as well as a standard (58 or 103 liter) sized cylinder of calibration gas, fixed flow rate regulator, and other fittings conveniently packaged in a waterproof carrying case.
